As a symbol, a scorpion represents death's destructive forces, disaster and darkness. In the Toth Tarot Deck, the Scorpion is the symbol for the XIII card of the Major Arcana, Death & Rebirth. Here, the scorpion has the same meaning as the phoenix: death and rebirth.
