The wand is a symbol of power, of supernatural force. It is an attribute of magicians, shamans and medicine man.

Common meanings as a symbol, most of which have to do with agency, transformation, and connection to unseen forces:
Power and Authority Wands represent the ability to direct energy, command, or enact change. They're tools of authority—from fairy godmothers to conductors' batons to ceremonial staffs. The wand extends the wielder's will into the world, symbolizing agency and the power to make things happen.
Transformation and Magic Most iconically, wands symbolize magical transformation—the ability to alter reality, transcend natural laws, or manifest desires. They represent the bridge between intention and manifestation, between the mundane and the miraculous.
Channeling and Focus Wands are conduits, focusing and directing energy that might otherwise be diffuse. They symbolize concentration, purpose, and the channeling of spiritual or creative forces through a specific point. The wand doesn't create power but directs what already exists.
Connection to Higher Powers In ceremonial magic and spiritual traditions, wands represent the connection between earthly and divine realms. They're often associated with the element of fire or air, symbolizing inspiration, will, and creative spark.
Choice and Free Will The wand must be actively wielded. It symbolizes conscious choice and deliberate action. Unlike a crown (inherited authority) or a sword (force), the wand represents intentional, directed will.
Creativity and Manifestation In tarot, the suit of wands represents creativity, passion, ambition, and enterprise, the spark that initiates projects and brings ideas into being.
The wand ultimately symbolizes human agency in partnership with greater forces: We guide the power, but don't generate it alone.
