Swords

A sword has various symbolic meanings. It represents power, protection, authority, leadership, justice, courage, strength, vigilance, active force. It is also a phallic symbol. Metaphysically, a sword represents discrimination. It also represents a spiritual decision, or supernatural powers.

In the Toth Tarot, Swords is one of the four suits of the Minor Arcana. They represent the mind (as the cutting edge), and the elements of Air, of Metal.

• Four of Swords: truce.
• Five of Swords: defeat.
• Six of Swords: science.
• Seven of Swords: futility.
• Eight of Swords: interference.
• Nine of Swords: (self-)cruelty.
• Ten of Swords: ruin.
