Truth Embargo
The Truth Embargo can be defined as the officially imposed ban on revealing the truth with regard to the extraterrestrial presence on earth. As such it includes - yet is not limited to - the phenomenon of the UFO Cover-up (which is just one aspect of the Truth Embargo). It is also a more neutral term than UFO Cover-up, which has connotations of being illicit or illegal. Many of the people involved are convinced they are doing the right thing, and that their actions are justified.
Some historical examples
That a policy to cover up information with regard to extraterrestrial information is in place is discussed in more detail in the topic UFO Cover-up. Here are some examples of the cover-up in action.
The Roswell incident: on 8 July 1947, there was a Press Release by the information officer of the 509th Bomb Group at Roswell Army Air Field saying that the military had recovered a flying disc. The very same day, Gen. Hoyt Vandenberg intervened, and Brig. Gen. Roger Ramey came on the record stating that it was no flying disc, but a crashed weather balloon.
Project Sign was the first predecessor of Project Blue Book. In 1948, a team investigated 237 reports of UFO sightings. The team members came to the conclusion in their interim report 'Estimate of the Situation' that given that nobody on earth could be doing it, they had to be interplanetary in origin. Gen. Hoyt Vandenberg again intervened and had all copies of the Estimate burned.
The Eisenhower Briefing Document stated: Implications for the National Security are of continuing importance in that the motives and ultimate intentions of these visitors remain completely unknown. In addition, a significant upsurge in the survejl1ce activity of these craft beginning in May and continuing through the autumn of this year has caused considerable concern that new developments may be imminent.
It is for these reasons, as well as the obvious international and technological considerations and the ultimate need to avoid a public panic at all costs, that the Majestic-12 Group remains of the unanimous opinion that imposition of the strictest security precautions should continue without interruption into the new administration. At the same time, contingency plan MJ-l949_O4P/7 (Top Secret - Eyes Only) should be held in continued readiness should the need to make a public announcement present itself. (see Attachment "G".)
The page on the UFO Cover-up also deals in more detail with two more examples: The Durant Report of the proceedings of the Robertson Panel of 17 January 1953, and the so-called Brookings Report.
Different forms
The embargo does not only apply to simple UFO sightings. A fortiori it also applies to UFO crashes and to extraterrestrial technology that may have been recovered at such crashes.
But the embargo deals with more than that. It's an embargo on the truth with regard to the extraterrestrial presence here on Earth. As such it also applies to information with regard to:
- contact with extraterrestials, be this voluntary (close encounters of the third kind, and contactees, or involuntary (close encounters of the fourth kind, or abductions).
- archeological evidence of a past presence of extraterrestrials, and the role they may have played in our history,
- life on other planets .
Other information
The Truth Embargo also is the name of a movie, which released in October 2014. It follows three individuals on a quest to unravel the truth. A journalist, a historian and an activist put it all on the line in an effort to uncover one of the greatest secrets held from the human race. Culminating in an unprecedented event, a CITIZEN HEARING in Washington DC, the realization that "we are not alone" is only the beginning.
