Exosciences
Exosciences are scientific and interdisciplinary fields that extend established human disciplines to the study of extraterrestrial life, intelligence, civilizations, environments, or the consequences of their existence and possible interaction with humanity.
There already is a reasonably coherent family of disciplines concerned with extraterrestrial life, intelligence, societies and their implications, although they vary greatly in scientific maturity.
There is an important qualification, however. Not all fields carrying an exo- or xeno- prefix have the same scientific status. Astrobiology, for example, is an established academic research field. Exopsychology has recently been explicitly proposed in peer-reviewed academic literature, but remains largely theoretical because no extraterrestrial minds have been scientifically identified. Exotheology, meanwhile, belongs more properly to the humanities and theology than to empirical science.
